Getting Started with SuperSpeech
Learn how to set up SuperSpeech for lightning-fast offline dictation on macOS and Windows.
Getting Started with SuperSpeech
SuperSpeech turns your voice into text in under a second -- all without sending a single byte to the cloud. Whether you are drafting emails, writing documentation, or transcribing meetings, this guide will have you dictating in minutes.
Step 1: Install and Activate
After purchasing a license, you will receive your license key via email. Download SuperSpeech for your platform (macOS or Windows), install it, and enter your key in the activation dialog on first launch. The app will download the speech recognition model automatically -- this is a one-time download of about 1.5 GB. Once the model is on your machine, SuperSpeech never needs the internet again.
Step 2: Configure Your Hotkey
SuperSpeech works system-wide through a global hotkey. By default it uses Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows and Cmd+Shift+Space on macOS, but you can change this to any key combination in Settings. The hotkey works in every application -- your browser, word processor, email client, code editor, you name it.
Press the hotkey once to start recording. Press it again (or release, depending on your preference) to stop. SuperSpeech will transcribe your audio and deliver the text in your chosen output mode.
Step 3: Choose Your Output Mode
SuperSpeech offers several ways to deliver your transcribed text:
- Paste-in-Place: Text is automatically typed into the active application. This is the fastest workflow -- just press the hotkey, speak, and the text appears where your cursor is.
- Clipboard: The transcription is copied to your clipboard. Paste it wherever you need with Ctrl+V / Cmd+V.
- File Export: Save transcriptions as TXT, SRT (with timestamps for subtitles), or DOCX files.
Most users prefer Paste-in-Place for everyday dictation and switch to file export for longer recordings like meetings.
Step 4: Set Up Your Custom Dictionary
If you work with specialized vocabulary -- medical terms, legal jargon, brand names, or technical abbreviations -- the custom dictionary is your best friend. It lets you define replacements for words the model might mishear.
Open Settings and navigate to the Dictionary tab. Add entries like:
- "a p i" becomes "API"
- "super speech" becomes "SuperSpeech"
- "n acht n" becomes "N8N"
The dictionary applies corrections in real-time after every transcription.
Tips for Best Results
- Speak naturally. SuperSpeech handles conversational speed and pauses well. You do not need to speak slowly or over-enunciate.
- Use a decent microphone. A built-in laptop mic works, but a USB headset or desk mic will improve accuracy, especially in noisy environments.
- Keep your model updated. SuperSpeech ships improved models periodically -- check for updates in Settings to get the latest accuracy improvements.
